Janet Royer, Rapid River, Michigan
My cat, Spot, had been with me 18 years, from the time she was a kitten, but I finally lost her to cancer. My friend bought me a subscription to Angels on Earth, hoping the stories would lift my spirits. Imagine my surprise when I received my very first issue which featured the poem
“Rainbow Bridge” (Mar/Apr 2007) to let me know that Spot awaited me in heaven.

Brad Crawford:
"Mystery Solved" in the current issue of Angels
on Earth
Brad Crawford has something in common with Chuck Atkinson,
the man he rescued from the lake. “I’m crazy about fishing too,” he says, “especially for
crappies.” In fact, if he hadn’t been a fisherman himself, Brad says he might not have
been so curious about that boat. Chuck’s son-in-law, Benny Burton, brought chuck over to
visit the Crawfords after he recovered from his ordeal. Brad hopes to go fishing with
Chuck one of these days. “I’m proud to finally know the famous old fisherman by name.”

Elizabeth Sherrill:
"Carnevale Angel" in the current issue of Angels
on Earth
The annual festival before Lent is celebrated in different countries—Mardi Gras in New Orleans and
Carnival in Rio de Janeiro are well-known—but the oldest and most famous is Carnevale in Venice.
For more than 500 years, revelers in this magical city have donned elaborate costumes and fanciful
masks to disguise their ordinary selves and indulge in earthly pleasures. In the eighteenth
century, kings and queens, lords and ladies, and every level of common folk danced together in
Piazza San Marco, their masks hiding them from one another but not from the God they worshiped.
They knew their religious obligations must soon be observed. Carnevale literally means
“farewell to meat” because the upcoming season of Lent was one of fasting and penance.

Mary E. Roberge:
"Aubree's Angel" in the current issue of Angels
on Earth
“It was a fun vacation day with my daughter,” says Mary Roberge
of her recent trip to New York City with her daughter Aubree. Besides being the editorial
home of Angels on Earth, New York City houses the renowned Statue of Liberty, which stands
tall on Liberty Island, in the New York harbor, where a friend snapped this photo. Aubree
and Mary splurged on a delicious lunch in Battery Park City. “We always have a great time
when we’re together,” Mary says. Next time they should visit our offices! For more

Jeff Brown:
"A Moment of Weakness" in the current issue of Angels
on Earth
JEFF BROWN will never forget the day he finally asked God for
help with his addiction, but the struggle didn’t end there. “I wouldn’t want anyone to think
I stopped having a problem overnight, or that God alone is the miracle cure for your addiction,”
he says. That’s why he joined a 12-step program and became a leader in Celebrate Recovery,
a faith-based program open to anyone with an addiction. “It can be risky talking openly
about my past,” says Jeff, “but if my honesty gives one other person hope, it’s worth it.”
